The Next Step Small Business Transformation is run and sponsored by Next Step Digital Solutions. The purpose of this series is to give small businesses an opportunity to be the best they can be.

Here is what Next Step Digital Solutions is going to do for you. We want to give your business or your favorite small business a digital makeover, a transformation that is valued at up to $800,000 JMD

  1. To enter your own business, or nominate another small business, please use the entry form below.
  2. After businesses have been entered, they will be contacted to confirm eligibility and that they accept the Terms and conditions of the competition.
  3. The shortlisted business is to then send us their short video stating why they deserve to win.

Rules & Conditions

  1. These rules govern the Small Business Makeover Competition being conducted by Next Step Digital Solutions (the “Sponsor”) beginning on the 1st August 2022 and ending on 10th September 2022.
  2. To enter the contest, you may enter online beginning on 1st August 2022 at 9:00 AM and ending on 10th September 2022 at 11:59 PM (the “Entry Period”) as follows:

To enter online, entrants must visit the “Small Business Transformation” landing page at trynextstep.com/small-business-transformation  and enter the competition or nominate a business, and submit all required fields of information in the online entry form on the competition page. To enter, individuals must entirely and accurately fill out and submit the entry form. Online entrants are subject to all notices posted online including but not limited to the Sponsors Privacy Policy. Limit one (1) entry per business regardless if a company has more than one location. Entries submitted may not be acknowledged or returned. Proof of submission of an entry shall not be deemed proof of receipt by the Contest Sponsor.
  4. Each nomination must be manually key stroked and manually entered by the private individuals or business owner. Automated and repetitive electronic submission of entries (including but not limited to entries made using any script, macro, bot or sweepstakes service) will be disqualified, and transmissions from these or related email addresses/IP addresses may be blocked.
  5. Once nominated, a Sponsor representative will contact the owner of the nominated business to confirm that they are willing to participate in the competition, will abide by the terms in the competition’s commitment to process & following advice agreement, and provide the answer to three (3) short free response answers (“Answers”) about their small business prior to confirm their eligibility in the competition.
  6. To participate as a contestant, during the Voting Period and to be declared a winner, nominated small businesses must sign and return all required declaration and release forms confirming eligibility and compliance with these Competition Rules and Regulations. Consenting to the use, without further compensation, of winner’s name, address (city only) and photograph(s) and or video(s) in any competition-related publicity and releasing the Competition Sponsor and Competition Parties from all liability arising in connection with the competition or the acceptance, use or redemption of a Prize as awarded is required to participate as a contestant. The declaration and release must be returned to the competition Sponsor before a business will be posted online on the Competition website to be eligible to collect votes. Entrants who fail or are unable to meet any of these Rules and Regulations will be disqualified.
  1. To vote for a small business in the Competition, you will visit our Instagram page at @nextstepdigitalsolutions and like and share the small business video you are voting for.

  2. An eligible business is allowed to receive only one (1) vote per IP address. Votes received after the Voting Period will not be counted.

  3. Votes cast during the Competition Period will not carry forward to subsequent Competition Periods.

  4. Odds of winning depend upon the number of LIKES & Shares received by the video posted on Next Step Digital Solutions Instagram page.

  5. Additionally, use of bot to like and share the entry is prohibited and such entry will be disqualified.
  1. The contest is open to any legally operating small business as defined by the laws of Jamaica and is registered and is operating in Jamaica.

  2. Winner will be required to provide a current, valid business registration certificate, associated with the winning business, to demonstrate legal operating status from their business location, failure to show same may result in prize forfeiture.

  3. The business must be operational and post-revenue.

  4. Participants must be age 18 or older as of the date of entry to be eligible.

  5. Employees, independent contractors, officers and directors of Next Step Digital Solutions, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion, and fulfilment agencies and legal advisors, the members of their immediate families (spouse, parent, sibling, or child) and those living in the same household of each (whether related or not), are ineligible to enter or win.

  6. This contest is subject to all Jamaica’s laws and regulations.

  7. In the event this Contest is compromised in any way, electronically or otherwise, that is beyond the control of Sponsor, Sponsor reserves the right to withdraw the transmission of this Contest.

  8. The nominated business must also meet the following criteria: Nominated business is not a franchise or part of a group of companies. Nominated business has less than eleven employees. At the start of the Competition, the nominated business has been in operation for more than one month.

  9. Entrants are required to provide truthful information, and the Sponsor will reject and delete any entry that it discovers to be false or fraudulent. The Sponsor will disqualify any entrant who does not meet the eligibility requirements and will also remove any entry as required by law.

  10. By entering or nominating a business for the Contest, the person completing and submitting the entry form represents and warrants whether they are authorised to enter the Promotion on behalf of the named company. Any breach of the preceding will result in the disqualification of the entry. Businesses nominated by persons who are not authorised will receive a notification that they have been nominated, giving them the option to approve entry into the Contest. Businesses nominated that do not provide authorisation will not be included in the Contest. Only companies that represent and warrant they are authorised and accept the terms of the Contest will be eligible to participate.

  7. No more than the stated number of prizes specified in these official rules will be awarded. The prize may be claimed via email, with signed/completed waivers/publicity release forms. The winner will forfeit any prize not claimed within seven (7) days of winning.

  8.  The Prize is non-transferable, and no substitution, assignment, or cash equivalent of the prize is permitted, except by the Sponsor (solely at its discretion), which reserves the right to substitute a prize or prize portion with another prize or prize portion of greater or equal value.

  9. The prize is expressly limited to the items listed above unless otherwise explicitly specified by the Sponsor to the winner in writing.

  10. Entrants acknowledge that the Promotion Entities have not made, nor are in any manner responsible or liable for, any warranties, representations or guarantees, and hereby disclaim any and all warranties expressed or implied, in fact, or in law, whether now or hereafter enacted concerning any prize, including without limitation, implied warranties of quality, merchantability, mechanical condition or fitness for a particular purpose, except for any express manufacturer’s warranty as may be included with the prize or as may be separately provided to participants by law. Other restrictions may apply.
  1. The winner of the Contest will be decided through voting (number of Likes on Next Step Digital Solutions Instagram page) and judge review. Chances of winning the Contest are dependent on the number of votes for each business nominated. The top (3) businesses with the most votes, at the end of the Contest period, will become finalists. will be judged by Sponsor-selected or designated judges will judge finalist businesses. Judges will review the five finalist businesses and rank them based on the criteria set forth below. The judges, based on these criteria, will consider the top three (3) entries. The decisions of the judges are final.

  2. Once finalists are selected as set forth above, the judging panel will select one finalist as the potential prize winner based on the following judging criteria as demonstrated in the Answers:
    (i) business’ reason for wanting a makeover (30%);
    (ii) business’ need for a makeover (30%) and
    (iii) business’ overall energy, enthusiasm, creativity, and passion (40%). The panel will select the potential prize winner on or around September 14, 2020. Any interference with the decision to cause a judge to choose or not select a Small Business as a finalist will result to Removal from the competition.

  3. The potential prize winners must be a Jamaica-based business that must conform to the eligibility criteria set forth above. The Sponsor reserves the right to request from the potential winner’s additional documentation to verify eligibility, and failure to provide such supporting documentation may be grounds for not awarding the prize to the potential winner as solely determined by the Sponsor.

  4. The potential prize winner will be notified by email on or around September 23, 2022. The prize will be awarded only upon confirmation of eligibility and completion of all requisite releases. The winner must execute and return any required affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release within five (5) days of winning or the prize will be forfeited, and the next runner-up as previously judged will be deemed to be the alternate potential prize winner. If a potential winner cannot be contacted, fails to sign and return the required fully-executed affidavit of eligibility and/or liability/publicity release within the required time period, or if a prize notification is returned as undeliverable, the potential winner forfeits the prize, and the next runner up entrant as previously judged will be deemed to be the alternate potential prize winner. (This process will continue as needed to fulfil the prize.)
  1. Participation in the Contest and/or acceptance of the prize constitutes the entrant’s and/or the winner’s permission for the Sponsor or its agents to interview the winner, to photograph, film and record the winner, and to use in commerce and in any media now or hereafter known throughout the world in perpetuity, his/her name, prize won, town (city and parish), biographic information, likeness, photograph, audio or video recording, and/or any statements made by him/her regarding the Sponsor, the Promotion, and/or its sponsor(s) for purposes of trade, publicity, or promotion without notice or additional compensation, notification, or permission, except where prohibited by law. Each winner (and employees, if applicable) agrees to sign a publicity release confirming such consent before acceptance of the prize, except where prohibited by law.

  2. Participation in the Contest and/or acceptance of prize constitutes the entrant’s and/or the winner’s agreement to release, discharge, and hold harmless the Promotion Entities, their respective parent, subsidiary and affiliated entities, their advertising and promotional agencies, prize suppliers, and participating sponsors, and their respective officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives and all of their successors and assigns (collectively, “Released Parties”) from and against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize and participation in the Promotion, including, but not limited to, personal injury, death, or damage to or loss of property, which may occur in connection with, preparation for, travel to, or participation in Promotion, or delivery, possession, acceptance and/or use or misuse of prize or participation in any Promotion-related activity, including but not limited to any claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy.

  3. If for any reason this Contest cannot be executed as planned, including but not limited to, as a result of infection by computer virus, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of the Released Parties that corrupt or affect the security, administration, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, or if the Contest is compromised or becomes technically corrupted in any way, electronically or otherwise, the Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, terminate, suspend, and/or modify the Contest. If the Contest is terminated before the original end date, the Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion to, to alter the procedure for selecting the winner, unless the nature of the event giving rise to such termination renders it impossible to choose the winner.

  4. The Released Parties are not responsible for
    (i) typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering, or the administration of the Promotion or in the announcement of a prize;
    (ii) incorrect or inaccurate entry information, human error, failure, or omission;
    (iii) unauthorized human intervention;
    (iv) ineligible forms of entries;
    (v) entries not received due to difficulty accessing the internet, service outage or delays, computer difficulties and other technological problems or for telephone service outages, delays, busy signals, weak signals or signal interference, accidental disconnection, equipment malfunctions, and any other technical failures of any kind; or
    (vi) any cancellations, delays, diversions, or substitutions or omissions whatsoever by any transportation providers or any other persons or entities providing any services to the winner including any results thereof such as changes in services or location necessitated by same. Further, the Released Parties are not responsible if any part of the prize cannot be awarded due to acts of God, acts of war, natural disasters, weather, acts of terrorism, or other factors beyond the Released Parties’ control.

  5. In the event of a dispute, online entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the Authorized Account Holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized Account Holder” means the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an internet access provider, online service provider, or other organisation that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. For phone or mobile entries, the authorised account holder is the natural person who is assigned to the text or mobile telephone number by a telecommunications provider, or other organisation that is responsible for assigning such numbers. The Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Next Step Digital Solutions’ website. Failure to comply with the rules of the Contest may result in an entrant’s disqualification and forfeiture of the prize. If the Sponsor makes a good faith determination that an entrant has cheated or committed fraudulent activity in connection with a promotion, the Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify that entrant from entering and/or winning this and future promotions administered by the Sponsor or its affiliates and to prosecute and seek damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.

  6. The Sponsor reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the Contest, including, without limitation, the substitution of a prize of equivalent value, which will become effective upon announcement. If due to circumstances beyond the control of the Contest Entities, any competition or prize-related event or travel is delayed, rescheduled, postponed or cancelled, the Sponsor reserves the right, but not the obligation, to cancel, terminate, suspend, or modify the Contest and shall not be required to award a substitute prize.

  7. Except where prohibited, by entering the Contest, each entrant agrees that:
    (1) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest or the prize shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by courts situated in Jamaica;
    (2) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, but in no event shall such costs include attorneys’ fees; and
    (3) no punitive, incidental, special, consequential or other damages, including, without limitation, lost profits may be awarded (collectively, “Special Damages”). Further, by entering the Contest, each entrant waives all rights to claim Special Damages and all rights to have such damages multiplied or increased. Jamaica’s law governs the interpretation and construction of these Official Rules and all aspects related to it.

  8. Winners understand and agree that they are responsible for any and all taxes incurred on prizes received.

  9. To obtain a copy of these Rules and Terms and Conditions, please print this page. For the name of the prize winner, send a self-addressed stamped envelope for receipt by August 1st, 2022, to Next Step Digital Solutions mailing address, 5G Charlton Road, St. Andrew, marked “Small Business Transformation Winner List.” The Official Rules and the Winner List (when completed) shall also be posted online.
  1. By participating in the Promotion, you agree to the Sponsors Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. All personal information, such as name and contact information, is collected by the Sponsor solely to administer this Competition and shall not be used for any other purpose without your express consent. By providing this information, you consent to it being used for the stated purposes. Sponsors terms and privacy policy can be found at www.trynextstep.com. In the event of a conflict between the Terms of Use and these Official Rules, the terms of these Official Rules shall apply.
  1. No liability or responsibility is assumed by Sponsor or Competition Parties resulting from participant’s participation in or attempt to participate in the Competition or ability or inability to upload or download any information in connection with the Competition. Sponsor or Competition Parties assume no responsibility or liability for technical problems or technical malfunction arising in connection with any of the following occurrences which may affect the operation of the Competition: Hardware or software errors; faulty computer, telephone, cable, satellite, network, electronic, wireless or Internet connectivity or other online or network communication problems; errors or limitations of any Internet or wireless providers, servers, hosts or other providers; garbled, jumbled or faulty data transmissions; failure of any online transmissions to be sent or received; lost, late, delayed or intercepted transmissions; inaccessibility of the Website in whole or in part for any reason; traffic congestion on the Internet or the Website; unauthorized human or non-human intervention of the operation of the Competition, including without limitation, unauthorized tampering, hacking, theft, virus, bugs, or worms; or destruction of any aspect of the Competition, or loss, miscount, misdirection, inaccessibility or unavailability of an email account used in connection with the Competition. Sponsor and Competition Parties are not responsible for any typographical errors in the announcement of prizes or these Official Rules, or any inaccurate or incorrect data contained on the Website. Use of Website is at user’s own risk. Sponsor and Competition Parties are not responsible for any personal injury or property damage or losses of any kind which may be sustained to user’s or any other person’s computer equipment resulting from participation in the Competition.
