FINANCIAL SERVICES

Digital that can withstand a regulator’s question.

Lenders, investment firms and financial service providers are judged on trust before price. NSDS builds and operates the platforms behind that: clear product information, applications that do not leak data, disclosures where they belong, and infrastructure with named ownership and tested recovery.

Common challenges

What financial service providers tell us

The constraint is rarely ambition. It is that the digital estate was built before the obligations were taken seriously.

Applications collect more than they should

An online form asks for identification documents and financial detail, then emails them somewhere nobody has written down.

Product information is not defensible

Rates, fees and terms live in marketing copy that was written once, and nobody is sure whether the site and the contract still agree.

There is no named owner for the platform

Hosting, updates and security belong to whoever built it, who may not be reachable, and nobody has tested a restore.

Reporting is assembled by hand

Someone spends the first week of each month pulling numbers together, which is both a cost and a risk.

What good looks like

What changes

The same business, on infrastructure and processes that survive scrutiny.

Data collection is deliberateApplications ask for what is needed, store it where it belongs, and have a stated retention position rather than an inbox full of identity documents.
Disclosure is where it should beRates, fees, terms and the things a customer must be told are presented clearly and are maintainable when they change.
The platform has an ownerNamed responsibility for updates, backups, monitoring and response, with the split written down and a restore that has actually been tested.
Numbers arrive on their ownReporting from the systems rather than from a spreadsheet someone rebuilds monthly.
Our solution

Three ways financial firms start

Almost every engagement begins with the customer-facing platform, because that is where both the commercial upside and the compliance exposure sit.

Rebuild the customer-facing platform

Product information, eligibility, disclosure and applications, built so a customer can understand the offer and apply without the firm collecting more than it should.

  • Product and rate information that is maintainable
  • Applications designed around data minimisation
  • Disclosures presented rather than buried
  • Accessible to WCAG 2.2 AA, tested during delivery

Get the data obligations in order

What personal data the firm holds, why, where it lives, who can reach it and how long it is kept, aligned to the Jamaica Data Protection Act.

  • Data inventory and processing record
  • Retention and deletion positions that are actually applied
  • Role-based access with a review schedule
  • Privacy notice that matches practice

Put the platform under management

Monitoring, patching, backup with tested restore and a named response route, so nobody has to hope the original developer answers.

  • Named ownership with a stated response time
  • Backups written to an account the firm owns
  • Restores tested rather than assumed
  • Monitoring that alerts a person, not a mailbox
Before you commit

The honest position

NSDS is not your compliance officer

We build systems that support obligations and we will tell you where a practice looks exposed. The obligation under the Act remains the firm’s, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Data minimisation costs conversions

Asking for less at application usually means asking for more later. We will show you the trade-off rather than quietly choosing for you.

Nothing goes live untested

Applications that move money or identity documents are tested against failure, not only against the happy path.

Continuity is contractual

Code, configuration and data transfer to the firm, and the exit terms are written before work starts.

Get started

What happens next

1
A requirements conversation

What you offer, who applies, what you must disclose and what data you currently collect.

2
A written recommendation

The first phase, an indicative range and the obligations that shape it, before anything is commissioned.

3
A scoped first phase

Usually the customer-facing platform, with the data work running alongside it rather than after launch.

What the consultation covers

Start with a conversation about your current operation. We will discuss what is not working, what you need to achieve, the systems you already use and any delivery constraints. The next step may be an assessment, a focused project or a phased implementation plan.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common questions from financial services

Can you help us comply with the Jamaica Data Protection Act?

We can build and document the practical side: what data is collected, where it lives, who can reach it, how long it is kept and how a subject request is answered. Compliance is a legal obligation held by your organisation, not something a supplier can certify on your behalf, and any supplier who says otherwise is overselling.

Do you build loan or investment applications?

Yes, including document upload, eligibility logic and routing into whatever system your team works in. We design them around collecting the minimum needed at each step.

Can you integrate with our core system?

Usually, depending on what it exposes. Where a platform has no API we say so early, and we do not promise an integration we have not confirmed is possible.

Who owns the platform when the engagement ends?

You do. Source, configuration and data transfer to the firm, and the handover includes documentation another supplier can work from.
